High oil prices force Israel to look at extracting oil from rocks.

By using a bitumen catalyst instead of heat and hydrogen an Israeli company can reduce extraction costs to $17 a barrel. They have also developed a process to burn the leftover shale at power plants. Jordan and Royal Shell have both expressed interest. The World estimate is 2.6 trillion barrels of recoverable oil, with 1.2 trillion in the US.
